Terms of this paper

These terms govern your use of the Alsio Vandrelli gazette and every page printed with it, including the dispatch, the plates, and the notices of the house. By opening these pages you agree to them. If you do not agree, close the paper. They are kept under the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that we may still seek an injunction or similar relief where the estate or its horses require it.

Alsio Vandrelli is a private equestrian estate at Willowmere Lane. It is not a public riding school, not a livery open to all, and not an offer to the world at large. The gazette is a chronicle and an invitation to write. It is not a shop-window in which a morning may be purchased by clicking.

The gazette is not the appointment

Nothing on these pages is an offer capable of acceptance. A description of the work, the trail, the school of the jump, or a morning at the walk is an account of how the house keeps itself. A contract for a visit arises only if you write, and if the house replies in terms that accept you, for a stated hour, on the conditions of the visit and the ride. Until that letter is sent, the house owes you no morning, and you owe the house no fee.

Prices, if they appear at all, are an indication. The fee for a particular morning is the fee confirmed in the letter of reply. The house may refuse a letter without giving a reason, and without correspondence beyond a courteous decline.

Accuracy and the quiet of the yard

We take care with what is printed. Grounds change with the season. Horses are living animals and are not a fixture. Hours of receiving (Tuesday through Sunday, by appointment) may be altered in a particular week because of weather, the needs of the yard, or the health of a horse. We may correct the gazette without notice. We do not warrant that the pages are complete, uninterrupted, or free of a typesetter’s error. To the extent the law allows, the gazette is offered as it stands.

Links to another house — including DECANOVA, who designed and built these pages — are given as a courtesy. Their paper is not ours. We are not responsible for it.

The type, the plates, and the name

The name Alsio Vandrelli, the gazette, the plates, the drawings, the photographs, the manner of the page, and the words printed here are the property of the house or are used with leave. You may look. You may write. You may not copy the plates or the text for a commercial purpose, train a machine on them, scrape them in bulk, frame the gazette as if it were your own, or use the name of the house to suggest a partnership that does not exist. A short quotation in a review, with credit, is another matter, and is welcome if it is fair.

The crop-marks, the grain, and the pencil are part of the paper. They are not a licence to take the design.

Your use of the pages

You must not misuse the gazette: no attempt to break it, to burden it, to introduce a virus, to harvest addresses, or to pass yourself off as the house. You must not send, in a letter or by any form we provide, anything unlawful, threatening, or untrue. We may block an address that abuses the post.

Letters

A letter to hello@alsiovandrelli.estate or to Willowmere Lane is received as correspondence with the house, not as a publication. We may keep it as described in the privacy of the house. We will not print your letter in the gazette unless you ask us to and we agree.

Electronic mail is not a sealed envelope. Do not send in it anything you would not trust to an ordinary post. For a matter of health or of a horse’s vices, a letter is preferred, or a conversation once an appointment is in hand.

Limitation

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that the law of England and Wales does not allow to be excluded. That sentence is not ornamental. It is the floor.

Subject to that floor, we are not liable for a loss that was not reasonably foreseeable; for a loss of profit, chance, data, or goodwill; for the fact that you relied on the gazette as if it were a contract; or for a failure of the network, the browser, or a machine that is not ours. If, notwithstanding the nature of these pages, any liability for use of the gazette should arise, it is limited to the greater of one hundred pounds and the amount you paid us for the website itself (which is nothing).

This limitation concerns the paper. The morning in the saddle is governed by the conditions of the visit and by the ride, which you must read before you come.

Changes and the rest

We may amend these terms by printing a new date at the head of the page. If you continue to open the gazette after that date, you accept the amendment for that use. A visit already accepted in a letter is not rewritten by a later change to this paper, save where we write to you, or where the law requires it.

If a court finds one sentence unenforceable, the rest still speaks. A failure to insist on a term on one morning is not a waiver of it on another. These terms, with the privacy of the house, the conditions of the visit, and the ride, are the whole agreement for the gazette. A visit, once accepted, is the whole agreement for that morning, together with the letter that accepted it.
